While some businesses such as banks will close Monday, most local government offices around the county, as well as retail establishments will be open as usual.
Presidents Day is designated as a time to honor all American presidents, especially George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. But for many it has become a time when sales on everything from cars to bedding attempt to lure shoppers during the slow winter months.
Cherokee County School District schools will be closed all next week for their winter break. School board offices will only be closed Feb. 20 and will be open for the remainder of the week. Classes within the district will resume will reopen Feb.27.
All city offices including Woodstock, Canton, Ball Ground and Waleska will be open Presidents Day except for the city of Holly Springs, which will close for the holiday.
Reinhardt University and Chattahoochee Technical College offices will be open for business.
For those looking to get a little knowledge, all Sequoyah Regional Library System locations will be open on Presidents Day, with the Woodstock Libaray open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Rose Creek Library in Woodstock from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Ball Ground Library from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Hickory Flat Library open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and R.T. Jones Library in Canton open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce office in Canton will also be open.
All local banks and post offices as well as other federal government offices will be closed for the holiday.
