Cherokee County Republican Party leaders confirmed late Wednesday afternoon that Gingrich will make a stop at the new Republican Party headquarters in Woodstock on Thursday, March 1.
A rally to show support for the candidate is set outside at the headquarters at 1428 Towne Lake Parkway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
“We are honored to have Newt visit Cherokee County and this means a lot to the conservatives in this area,” said John Marinko, vice chairman of events for the local GOP. Marinko headed up the effort to encourage Gingrich to make a stop in Woodstock.
Other dignitaries including former presidential candidate Herman Cain, Gov. Nathan Deal and U.S. Congressman Tom Price are also expected to be on hand, Marinko said
Cherokee County Republican Chairman Bob Rugg said the details were ironed out for the event among local party leaders on Wednesday.
“We are definitely excited about this visit and we hope a big crowd will come out to welcome Newt to Cherokee County,” Rugg said.
Rugg said a stage will be set up in front of the new campaign headquarters which is set to officially open March 3. He said at least 200 can get into the area in front of the headquarters.
