Baker said investigators have discovered evidence that suggests Moran has been stalking Thomas.
CANTON — A Canton man has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Woodmont subdivision and stabbed a man.
Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said Donald Judson Moran, 24, was arrested early Monday morning at his home off East Cherokee Drive after he fled the crime scene. Baker said deputies were dispatched to 24-year-old Kimberly Thomas’ home on Lyndhurst Circle at approximately 1:30 a.m. and saw 24-year-old Graham Royal, who who had been stabbed multiple times in the face and back.
Graham, an Alpharetta resident, was visiting Thomas at the time. Thomas and Royal told deputies Moran, Thomas’ ex-boyfriend, broke into the home and attacked Royal. “Deputies went Moran’s home off East Cherokee Drive and determined Moran had fled the location on foot,” Baker said. Moran returned after about an hour and was placed under arrest. “A search warrant of the home was conducted and the knife believed to be used in the attack was located in Moran’s bedroom,” Baker said.
Royal was transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital where he is in stable condition. Moran is currently in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center with his bond set at $33,500.
