CANTON — A 21-year-old man is dead after crashing his motorcycle into a telephone pole Wednesday morning on Epperson Road, said Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson Tim Cavender.

Brandon Lyon of Canton was going south on Epperson Road and lost control of his motorcycle on the crest of a hill, according to a spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol.

“He lost control of his motorcycle on a hill crest, ran off the road and hit a telephone pole,” the GSP spokesperson said.

A Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputy performed CPR until other emergency personnel arrived and transported Lyon to a nearby ambulance where CPR was continued, according to Cavender.

Lyon was later pronounced dead on the scene of the accident, Cavender said.

Cavender said that both lanes of Epperson Road were closed until the wreck was cleaned up.

The accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
