Those celebrating the milestone were honored at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southwestern Regional Medical Center’s annual “Celebrate Life” event.
Drennan, now 65, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2006, and received his treatment in Tulsa.
“It is unique that I get to go from being a patient to being involved in this new hospital from the ground breaking,” said Drennan. “Part of the reason I came to CTCA is that I don’t have time for cancer. I let them worry about that and I get to live my life.”
In his spare time, Drennan enjoys playing golf, traveling, cooking and staying involved with Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church.
The cancer survivor also supports foundations such as the Wounded Warrior Project and Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
The regional “Celebrate Life” event included a tree planting ceremony and white dove release in the courtyard of the hospital. The names of celebrants were added to brass leaves on the “Survivor Tree” in the hospital’s lobby.
