On Saturday, American Legion Thomas M. Brady Post 45 will host the annual Veterans Day parade in downtown Canton beginning at 1 p.m. After the parade, veterans will be recognized at the historic courthouse.
The city of Woodstock’s annual ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Park at City Center in downtown Woodstock.
The candlelight ceremony will feature guest speakers, choral group Together in Harmony, guitarist Kareem Rea and the Etowah High School Air Force JROTC.
The event includes a special tribute to Vietnam Era veterans. Coffee and doughnuts will be served after the ceremony.
The ceremony is presented by the city of Woodstock, Maj. Gen. Warren R. Johnson Marine Corps League Detachment 1311 and American Legion Post 316.
The Cherokee County Historical Society invites all veterans to stop in for the CCHS Museum’s “USO Canteen” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Tour the special Moonshine Exhibit and enjoy free coffee and doughnuts.
The CHHS Story Catchers will record wartime stories from anyone willing to share memories.
The Lodge at Bridge Mill will hold a musical celebration in honor of Veterans Day on Monday afternoon. The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. with music beginning at 4 p.m.
The celebration will also include a World War II display by Denver Peardon including Tuskegee model airplanes and a military tribute by the Soleil Singers. The Lodge at Bridge Mill is located on Bells Ferry Road in Canton.
Cameron Hall Assisted Living will host a veterans benefits seminar Tuesday. A dessert reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the benefits presentation by Jeff Riblet following at 7 p.m.
The evening will include information about veterans benefits, as well as a special presentation from Bugles Across America and In Their Honor Transport. Cameron Hall is located on Marietta Highway in Canton.
