ATLANTA — Fulton County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a murder suspect who was mistakenly released from the county jail.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports a Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman says Quinton Jones was released Oct. 20 after the jail received paperwork saying prosecutors had decided not to prosecute his case.

Jones was booked into the jail in September 2011 in the June 2011 shooting death of La Maurice Westbrook. He was indicted on charges including murder, felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard says the case was re-indicted in July to include additional charges.

Jones was arraigned Oct. 19 and a trial was set for this past Monday.

The sheriff’s office spokeswoman says the jail never got documents saying Jones was re-indicted.
