After a fight, 53-year-old Anthony Lamar Johnson Sr. drove his son, Anthony Lamar Johnson Jr. to the hospital, police spokeswoman Det. Candy Worthy said in a release Monday.
According to Worthy, the stabbing occurred Sunday afternoon on the 100 block of Crisler Street in Canton, where the 25-year-old victim’s grandmother lives with Johnson Sr.
The father then drove his son to Northside-Hospital Cherokee but left before police arrived, Worthy said.
After a police lookout was broadcast, Johnson Sr. was located at the Pinecrest Motor Lodge in Holly Springs and brought back to the Canton Police Department for questioning.
He was then arrested and charged with aggravated battery and taken to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center, police said.
“The reason for the stabbing remains part of the ongoing investigation, but it was learned that the victim and suspect argued and had an altercation with one another,” Worthy said.
Johnson Jr. was flown Sunday to Atlanta Medical Center for further treatment.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the 25-year-old was still sedated and in the intensive care unit, Worthy said.
Worthy said there have been no prior reports of the men fighting or arguing.
