Funeral services for the three victims are planned Saturday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church on Highway 369 in Canton.
Ricky Norrell, 49, and his daughter, Lindsey Norrell, 19, were identified Wednesday from DNA samples, according to Maj. Ron Hunton with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
The mother, Darlene Norrell, 46, was identified last Monday using her dental records at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory, Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said at the time.
Hunton said weapons were found in the Spriggs Trail home, but would not comment as to whether guns were involved in the deaths of the three people.
“There were a number of weapons recovered at the scene of this fire,” Hunton said. “They were all consistent with weapons reportedly owned by Ricky Norrell.”
As of Wednesday, investigators had not determined the cause and origin of the fire and the investigation remains ongoing, Hunton said.
He said he was unable to provide a timeline for those results or whether a definitive cause would ever be determined.
Extended family members have been cooperative throughout the investigation, Hunton said.
“It’s a tragic event, certainly, to lose a family like this,” Hunton said.
Hunton said officials expect to release more information today.
On July 25, firefighters arrived on the scene around 3:35 a.m., finding the home had already collapsed and was engulfed in flames. The blaze left only ashes of the split-level home behind.
“Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and immediately called 911,” said Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.
The family will receive friends all day today at Sosebee Funeral Home in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested for the Norrell Family Monument Fund at Bank of North Georgia.
Lindsey Norrell is survived by her fiancé, Dustin Cagle of Canton. Other survivors include Darlene Norrell’s parents, Pinky and Rosleen West of Ball Ground, and Ricky Norrell’s parents, Charles Norrell of Jasper and Ruby Norrell of Athens.
The Revs. Troy Milford and Terry Cowart are officiating at the funeral services. Burial will follow at Ophir Baptist Church Cemetery in Ball Ground.
