“We’re very committed to traditional Southern food seasoned the way our grandmother’s seasoned. We want you to feel like you’re at your grandmother’s table,” said Debi Collins, who owns the restaurant with husband Bill.
With Southern specialties like fried chicken, meat loaf, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese and green beans washed down with a cold glass of sweet tea, guests are transported back to another time. And just when they are full to the brim, a slice of pound cake or cobbler are sure to tempt.
“Everybody is telling us we have some of the best fried chicken they’ve ever eaten,” Collins said.
The Collins always wanted to own a restaurant and were inspired by memories of good times on a front porch after long meals around the table with family.
“We’ve always enjoyed food and eating out and trying different foods. Opening a restaurant is something we always joked about for years,” she said.
The perfect setting beckoned the former decorator and retired Air Force employee to follow their dream.
“We saw the house and thought this would be a great location to do an upscale southern style restaurant,” Collins said. The couple has two grown children.
Front Porch serves meat and three at lunch and family style at dinner.
