SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) _ Authorities in Savannah say a police horse was injured after a man rammed the animal while trying to get away from officers during a traffic stop.

The Savannah Morning News reports that 51-year-old Andre Roy Tresvant was jailed after police say he rammed the horse with his Chevrolet Impala Saturday.

Police say they had pulled Tresvant over after an officer saw him nearly strike the rear of a haunted tour vehicle driving around Emmet Park.

Tresvant was being held Tuesday in the Chatham County Jail on several charges including aggravated assault, reckless driving and fleeing to elude police. Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.

Police spokeswoman Gena Sullivan said the horse’s leg buckled when it was struck, but the animal was doing well.
