For the Cherokee County School District, Monday will be a holiday for all employees followed by post-planning Tuesday and Wednesday.
All libraries within the Sequoyah Regional Library System will also be closed for Memorial Day.
Banks across the county, including Cherokee Bank and United Community Bank will also be closed.
All Cherokee County government offices as well as the cities of Canton, Woodstock, Holly Springs, Ball Ground and Waleska will be closed.
The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce offices will also be closed.
Woodstock’s regular meeting of the mayor and council has been canceled, but the city will conduct a Memorial Day service beginning at 10 a.m. at the Park at City Center.
The event will feature the New Horizons Band and offers visitors an opportunity to see the new Woodstock Memorial, a monument made of 10 tons of granite inscribed with the names of fallen Woodstock veterans.
On Saturday, the city of Holly Springs will conduct its seventh annual Memorial Day 5K & Fun Run Race.
The 5K race will begin at Holly Springs Elementary School at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run will begin immediately following the 5K. The registration fee is $18 prior to race day and $20 the day of the race. For the Fun Run, the registration fee is $8 prior to race day and $10 the day of the race.
All proceeds will benefit the Holly Springs Volunteer Fire Department. To register online, visit www.hollyspringsga.us.
