New Year’s closings

Most government offices will be closed in observation of New Year’s Day on Tuesday, and several agencies will have additional closings.

Cherokee County government offices will be closed Jan. 1, as will city offices in Canton, Woodstock, Holly Springs and Ball Ground.

City of Waleska offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday. Nelson City Hall is closed now through Tuesday.

All branches of the Sequoyah Regional Library will close at 5 p.m. New Year’s Eve and will be closed New Year’s Day.

Local Cherokee Area Transportation System buses will not run on New Year’s Day. Express commuter buses will not run New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.

Waste Management will not run pickup service on Jan. 1. Pickups will be delayed by one day through Jan. 5.

Banks will be closed New Year’s Day. Post offices will also be closed New Year’s Day, with some closing at noon New Year’s Eve.
