No one was injured in the blaze.
Shortly before 1 a.m., Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Woodstock Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 1000 block of Ashfern Walk.
Tim Cavender, spokesman for Cherokee Fire, said the 911 caller told a dispatcher that a vehicle located just a few inches from the house was on fire and subsequently caught the home on fire.
“When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the house about two-thirds involved with heavy smoke coming from the two-story house,” Cavender said.
He said smoke detectors alerted five family members inside the house and allowed them to escape from the home without injury.
Cavender said the majority of the damage was in the garage and the portion of the house next to it received heavy smoke and fire damage.
The cause of the fire continues to be investigated by a Cherokee County Fire investigator, Cavender said.
