That is, except for the hotly contested Cruiser division, which will run its final points race tonight.
The Cruisers were rained out from Sunday’s race at Dixie’s sister track in Rome, which counts toward the overall points standings. With the division’s top three drivers all within 22 points of one another, track officials decided one more race would be needed before the standings became final.
Jimmy Wilson’s second-place finish last Saturday saw him take first place from leader Edwin Scott, who had taken the lead from Wilson just the week before.
The Cruisers class has seen three different points leaders in the last three weeks, so a tight, exciting race can be expected tonight.
Wilson, with 328 points, currently leads Scott by eight points and third-place driver Chris Neese by 22.
For Dixie’s six other divisions, the standings are final.
Despite finishing 16th last week, Shane Smith had first-place in the Econo Bomber division cemented two weeks ago, and he finished with a total of 360 points.
Runner-up Cody Richards and third-place Eric Hamby, who also had their final spots in the standings confirmed, did not race.
Having also wrapped up his title two weeks ago, Super Bomber driver Kirk Atkins finished the season on a high note as he finished first last Saturday and with a total of 394 points.
Andy Morris, who was sixth in the final race, finished second in the standings with 338 points, while Daniel Brewer rounded out the top three with 320.
Shannon Etheridge had the Pony Stocks in hand with 352 points, despite a 15th-place finish last week. Jeremy Millsaps (304) was second, while Jeremy Ray (246) finished third.
Michael Page was finally rewarded for his dominance of the Super Late Model division as he wrapped up first place with 340 points, a position he held since the third race of the season.
Though Page knew that he had won the division more than a month ago, he was still relieved for the standings to be official.
“It felt good. It felt really good,” Page said. “I’ve been coming here every week to try and win the points, and though I’ve been in the lead for a long time, it’s still nerve-racking up until the end.”
Page was quick to say how much he had enjoyed the season.
“Dixie is my favorite place to race,” said Page, who also won the Super Late Model title last year. “It’s always exciting. All the divisions are competitive and fun to watch, and the fans, especially the kids, seem to have a good time.”
The Crate Late Model division was also rained out in Rome last week, but the points standings cannot change, so there will not have a make-up race.
Craig Reece finished first with 348 points while first-year driver Hunter Jones was second at 306. Phil Coltrane (192) was a distant third.
Jake Herrell won the Limited Late Models with 364 points, 62 ahead of Rucker Orr and 90 ahead of Michael Brewer and Oliver Gentry.
Brewer and Gentry had tied for third on 274 points, but Brewer, with one more race win than Gentry, was awarded third place.
Tonight at Dixie, the final race for the Cruisers, and the awards ceremonies for the rest of the divisions, will be complemented by a full racing program and the USCS Mini Sprint Car Nationals.
