An 82-year-old man who went missing from his home in Woodstock on Sunday was found Monday night in Newnan and was taken to an Atlanta hospital.

Joseph Radaovich was reported missing Monday after leaving his house Sunday afternoon.

His daughter, JoAnn Radaovich, said Monday afternoon that her family believed he may have made his way to Jonesboro and gotten lost.

Hours later though, Radaovich was found about 40 miles from Jonesboro in Newnan, Lt. Jay Baker of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday morning.

“Mr. Radaovich experienced a medical emergency” at a Wal-Mart there and was taken to a hospital in Coweta County, Baker said.

Baker said Radaovich recently had open heart

surgery and was possibly at risk if he didn’t take his medication.

Once at the hospital, Baker said a nurse found that Radaovich had been listed on a Mattie’s Call — the equivalent of a Levi’s Call for the elderly — with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and contacted authorities.

Radaovich was later taken to Atlanta Medical Center, Baker said.

“He has been reunited with his family,” Baker said in a news release Monday.
