Prep Roundup: Creekview cruises at Osborne

Creekview used a seven-run third inning and five runs in the seventh to beat Osborne 12-2 in a Region 7AAAAA road game Thursday.

Ryan Stevens went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while and Nick Williams went 1-for-2 with three walks, a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Ben Carraway (3-0) pitched five innings, striking out seven.

Creekview (10-6, 9-2), which holds a half-game lead over Pope and Riverwood atop the region standings, will play Thursday at Northview.

Milton 6, Etowah 4:
Etowah battled the defending state champion on even terms through most of the Area 2AAAAAA game.

The teams were tied 1-all at the end of the first quarter and 2-2 at the end of the second. Milton found its edge in the third and took a 4-3 lead before adding two more goals in the final quarter.

Etowah’s defensive effort was led by Hayden Armistead, Seamus Smart, Griffin Sindair, Sam Rubin and Alex Lord. Sindait had six ground balls, while Rubin had a pair of takeaways and five ground balls. Armistead had three ground balls and Smart had one takeaway and three ground balls.

Blake Charitat led Etowah with a goal and two assists. Chris Orr, Zach Stephan and Smart each scored one goal.

Will Sheridan made 12 saves for Etowah (5-3, 3-2), which will return to action Monday at North Cobb before hosting Creekview on Tuesday.

Woodstock 21, River Ridge 2: Brock Henson broke a single-game record with nine goals for the Wolverines.

Bishop Boening added four goals and three assists, while Dalton Clarke scored twice.

Woodstock (7-5) will host Kell tonight.
