Pope entered the final quarter up 37-36, but Creekview performed well on the free-throw line. The Lady Grizzlies were 9-for-13, with Emma Cook going 4-for-6. Cook led her team with 19 points.
Dee Blankenship added 11 points for Creekivew, while Megan Nay scored eight.
Pope’s Andrea Brown led all scorers with 35 points, including three 3-pointers. She was 9-for-11 from the free-throw line, and she scored 12 of her team’s 15 points in the fourth quarter.
Kierra Henry scored 10 points for the Lady Greyhounds.
River Ridge 62, Gilmer 34: Jordan Livesay scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds to help the Lady Knights roll to a Region 7AAAA victory.
River Ridge used the fast break to near perfection in the first half as 20 points came in transition, which led to a 28-11 halftime lead.
Parker Nayman finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Jessica Baker scored nine points and made three of the Lady Knights’ seven
Kell 68, Sequoyah 50: The Lady Chiefs fell behind the Region 7AAAAA power quickly and couldn’t catch up.
Sequoyah trailed by six after the first quarter, then by eight at halftime before the deficit grew in the second half.
Maggie Hartman led the Lady Chiefs with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Emily Ryan had 14 with the help of three 3-pointers.
Wheeler 67, Etowah 58: The Lady Eagles couldn’t combat a big game from the Lady Wildcats’ leader and lost the Region 5AAAAAA game.
Alaysia Mitchell had 22 points and 15 rebounds as Wheeler gradually pulled away after ending the first quarter with a one-point lead.
Scottlyn James led Etowah with 17 points, while Jenni Karpowich had 13.
Creekview 29, Forsyth Central 16: Depite scoring just eight points in the first half, the Lady Grizzlies were able to pick up a Region 7AAAAA victory.
Creekview scored just three points in the first quarter — all by Hanna Murphy. It added five points in the second quarter, all of which came on the free-throw line.
Forsyth Central started strong in comparison. The Lady Bulldogs scored 10 points in the first, but after being held to two points in the second quarter, they led just 12-8 at the half.
The Lady Grizzlies stepped up the pace in the third quarter and put up 17 points, while holding the Lady Bulldogs scoreless.
Both teams ended the game with a quiet quarter. Forsyth Central scored four points, while Murphy’s 3-pointer was the lone field goal and Ella Wilkie added a free throw for the Lady Grizzlies.
Murphy led the team with 14 points. Dee Blankenship added seven points.
