Prep Roundup: Grizzlies beat unbeaten Northview

Chase Puckett pitched a complete game to help Creekview beat previously undefeated Northview 7-3 on Wednesday in a Region 7AAAAA home game.

Puckett (1-1) gave up three runs — two earned — on five hits and struck out six as the Grizzlies (3-2, 2-0) won their third straight game.

A two-out error in the first inning allowed Creekview to score its first two runs. Northview tied the contest in the second, but the Grizzlies, who had 10 hits, went ahead for good with a three-run third.

Steven Whitaker was 3-for-3 with an RBI, stolen base and two runs scored for Creekview. Ryan Zentko had two hits and scored a run, while Kyle Wilkie had two hits and an RBI. Austin Smith had an RBI hit as well.

Creekview will host Kell on Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

River Ridge 5, North Cobb 1:
After managing just one goal in the first half, the Lady Knights got four in the second and beat the Class AAAAAA team.

After Maddie Brooks scored the lone first-half goal, Shannon Driscoll scored twice in the second half. Allison Clarke-Hall and Alexis Lewis also scored, with Clarke-Hall contributing an assist on Driscoll’s second goal.

River Ridge (2-3) will travel to unbeaten Cherokee, its fourth of five games against county rivals, on Friday.
