Mrs. Evelyn Stevens, 88, of Tybee Island, GA (formerly of Cherokee County, GA) passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Reuben Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Forest Memorial Park in Jasper, GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Stevens was a member of Trinity Chapel Methodist Church, Tybee Island. She enjoyed playing cards (hand and foot), reading and tending her flowers. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Bill Stevens of Tybee Island, GA; children, Mona Stevens of Canton, GA, Steve (Rebecca) Stevens of Austin, TX, Marcia (Donald) Smith of Powder Springs, GA and Sandra (Craig) McFarland of Canton, GA; siblings, Raymond Hamilton of Sumter, SC, Glenn Hamilton of Pittsburg, KS, Pete Hamilton of Quitman Texas, Eulelia Baker and Leona Teague both of Hutchinson, KS; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stevens loved flowers, but donations may also be made in her memory to Trinity Chapel Methodist Church, 911 Butler Avenue, Tybee Island, GA 31328.
