Jamie Lynn Sanborn, 42, was hit near mile marker nine between the new Ridgewalk Parkway interchange and the Towne Lake Parkway exit, GSP spokesman Gordy Wright said Tuesday.
Brittany Duncan, spokeswoman for Woodstock Police Department, said the call came into her agency around 9:30 p.m.
Wright said GSP arrived on scene at 10:15 p.m.
“A witness told the trooper that Sanborn and a passenger in a vehicle had an argument and the driver pulled over to the shoulder of the road,” Wright said.
Wright said Sanborn, who was riding in the vehicle as a passenger, ran from the vehicle into the left lane of I-575 and was hit by a Nissan Altima traveling southbound.
The 22-year-old driver of the Altima, Kyla Nicole Reinagel of Acworth, was not charged in the accident, Wright said. Duncan said Reinagel stopped at the scene.
Wright said blood was drawn from both Sanborn and Reinagel to determine if alcohol was involved in the wreck.
“Alcohol is not suspected on the part of the driver that struck her,” Wright said.
The portion of the interstate near the wreck reopened at 12:40 a.m., Duncan said.
