Two Woodstock teens are headed for a competition in Atlanta next weekend.

Maya Opara-Nadi of Woodstock was recently selected to participate in the 2012 Miss Teen Atlanta pageant competition that will take place March 24.

Caitlyn Greiner of Woodstock was selected to participate in the 2013 Miss Jr. Teen Atlanta pageant competition on the same day.

Both teens learned of their acceptance into this year’s competition when the pageant announced their selections following interviewing in the Atlanta area.

Maya is a student at Etowah High School where she is a member of the girls varsity basketball team, according to a release about the pageant.

While basketball keeps her busy, she also enjoys spending time shopping and hanging out with her friends, the release said.

Maya is passionate about her love for animals and dedicates time to promoting any program that ensures the safety of animals, according to the release.

Her friends describe her as funny, adventurous and loyal.

Maya will be competing for her share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants.

She will be competing in the Miss Teen division, one of four divisions that will have young ladies ages of 7 to 19 competing in modeling routines, which include casual wear and formal wear.

Maya will display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year’s Atlanta judging panel. Personality is the No. 1 aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.

Caitlin will be competing in the Miss Jr. Teen division.

Winners in the March 24 competition will represent Atlanta and the surrounding communities at National Competition that will take place in Orlando, Fla.

Any business, organization or private individual who may be interested in becoming a sponsor to either teen can contact the Miss Jr. Teen Atlanta Pageant Coordinator at 1 (877) 403-6678.
