The Woodstock City Council is set to continue discussion Monday night on whether to grant zoning variances for several restaurants looking to open in the outparcels of the Outlet Shoppes of Atlanta.

Also, the Council will discuss updating Internet connectivity within the city.

The meeting will be at the Chambers at City Center at 7 p.m.

Initially discussed at the Jan. 14 meeting, Council members have since met with three restaurant applicants requesting variances for the setback requirements and additional drive-through windows. The zoning ordinance requires all buildings to be on the front or the middle of the outparcel and limits two drive-throughs on two outparcels nearest the interstate.

At the meeting, Council member Chris Casdia said the three restaurants should have a uniform requirement for where they are located within the lot, to which Council member Randy Brewer agreed.

At Monday’s meeting, city staff will provide an aerial view of the area and Council will discuss how they plan to move forward.

In other business, the city will address issues related to increasing Internet connectivity demands.

Jim Moore, director of the city’s IT department, said in the last five years, the city has gone from very little connectivity to having a proper network.

Moore said the Council will essentially be considering two options: either installing “dark fiber,” which would be put in the ground near the City Annex and belong to the city, or look at paying a service provider.

“In the long term, it’s significantly cheaper to put the fiber in the ground, but if we decide to move locations, it doesn’t make sense,” Moore said.

Moore is also asking the Council to consider increasing the budget in the capital equipment fund by an additional $60,000 to allow the city’s technical department to work on adding technical infrastructure projects.

City Manager Jeff Moon said the Council spent a significant amount of time during last year’s planning retreat discussing connectivity and wanted to provide the Council with an update.

In other business, the Council will:

•Have the second reading of the Council ward redistricting ordinance map;

* Consider contracts with Eden’s Edge, The Marshall Tucker Band and Yacht Rock Revue for the city’s summer concert series;

* Consider purchase of new fire department administrative vehicle;

* Consider contract amendments with Clark Patterson Lee and Jack Burnside for the Main Street Streetscape project; and

* Consider alcohol license applications for Habaneros Taqueria Restaurant, 9550 Main Street, Suite 120 and Texaco, 9114 Main Street.+
