Mr. John T. "Ted" Cerstvik LCDR USN RET., age 78, of Woodstock, GA passed away January 6, 2011. Ted retired after 30 years of service in the US Navy. He served on numerous ships and was based in many different locations including Japan, Alaska and Hawaii. He also served in Korea and Viet Nam. Ted is a graduate of Bethany College in West Virginia and received a Master's Degree from Central Michigan University. Ted was preceded in death by his late wife Joan Preston Cerstvik, his parents and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Cerstvik, daughters, Maria Hilmer (Rick), Martha Porter (William), and Katherine Cerstvik; step-sons, Todd Clifford (Cathy), Steven Clifford (Tina), Ross Clifford, Bill Putnam, Bob Putnam (Cathie) and Michael Putnam (Lynne); brother, Milan Cerstvik (Millie); sisters-in-law, Marilyn Romine and Priscilla Lanigan; step-brothers Paul (Karen) Preston, George (Sydney) Preston and step-mother-in-law, Ann Preston; 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 4 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Woodstock, Pastor Paul Baumgartner, Pastor Justin Ask and Pastor Tom Kenney officiating. There will be a reception following the service at the church.
