Woodstock Zaxby's to have 'clown' hour

Zaxby's in Woodstock will present a free "Clowning Around Hour" with one of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's official clowns from the circus on Saturday.

The event is from 11 a.m. to noon at the restaurant at 107 Claremore Drive.

Guests at the event also can take free pictures with the clown.

Family four-packs of tickets for the circus performances in Atlanta and Duluth are for sale for $50 at Zaxby's as well.

Chamber plans 'lunch and learn'

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce will present a "lunch and learn" workshop on sales next month.

The program, sponsored by Reinhardt University, is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 16, at the chamber office at 3605 Marietta Highway in Canton. The cost, which includes lunch, is $30 for chamber members and $55 for nonmembers.

Twanna Woods with Icebreakers Unlimited will lead the workshop, which will focus on topics including the time involved in closing a sale and how to be more genuine when presenting a product or service.

Cobb EMC offers scholarship

Cobb EMC is accepting applications for the 2011 Walter Harrison Scholarship.

Students accepted or enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program in Georgia and who live in a primary residence serviced by Cobb EMC may apply for the $1,000 scholarship.

To apply, students must submit the two-page Walter Harrison application located under the "In the Community" section of Cobb EMC's website, www.cobbemc.com. Applicants must also write a two-page autobiographical sketch that references their future plans and goals. Selection criteria include GPA, SAT score, academic standing, scholastic honors and a demonstration of financial need.

Applications are due by Feb. 7. The three winners will be announced by April 1.

Ameris Bank to give away iPad

Ameris Bank in Woodstock is offering a drawing for a free iPad for customers who open certain accounts this month.

Customers are eligible to enter the drawing if they open a business or personal Free Checking Account, which requires a $100 minimum balance to open, by Jan. 31.
