CANTON - Another damaged water main has caused the city of Canton to issue a water boil advisory.

Residents and those working in businesses along Lamar Haley Parkway in the Brown Industrial Park Complex, Muriel Street and Cherokee Street are being asked to boil all water for safety purposes.

Camille Wehs, IT director with the city of Canton, said construction activities related to the Universal Alloy expansion damaged a 10-inch water main, which required that part of the city's system to be "isolated for necessary repairs."

The boil water notice is expected to be lifted by 5 p.m. today.

Until further notice, people in the affected corridor should boil all water before drinking, cooking or preparing baby food. Water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a boiling point.

A water main break caused residents along Highway 140 to be under a water boil advisory last week.
