BOGART, Ga. (AP) _ A Georgia pastor is using the sign outside his church to send a message to criminals after thieves made off with five air-conditioning units worth $35,000.

“You Shall Not Steal the Lord’s Air Conditioners” states the marquee outside Bethabara Baptist Church in Oconee County.

Sheriff’s officials say the air-conditioning units behind the church were stolen Oct. 7, the same night a church in nearby Walton County was hit. Authorities said the thieves removed circuit breakers, cut wiring and pipes and removed the entire units.

The Rev. Rob Bray tells the Athens Banner-Herald that he hoped the sign brings attention to the crime. Bray said there doesn’t seem to be anything sacred anymore.

Oconee Chief Deputy Lee Weems said deputies are watching churches in the area more closely.
