WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) _ Authorities investigating a murder and kidnapping in Georgia have arrested two suspects at a motel in northeastern Illinois.

The kidnapping victim was freed after texting her location to a friend, who notified police.

The News-Sun in Waukegan, Ill., reports the arrests were made May 2 at a motel in the village of Beach Park along Lake Michigan.

Police say one of the suspects, Cristian De La O Hernandez, shot and killed one of two women he met at a Georgia nightclub. Police say he then drove off with the second woman, whom he sexually assaulted. Along the way, he picked up the second suspect, Jose Juarez-Vidales, and drove to Illinois.

The charges against Hernandez include murder and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Juarez-Vidales is being held on a murder warrant.
