Tim Cavender, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman, said emergency personnel responded to the accident shortly after 5:30 p.m. to find the 16-year-old driver of a black Toyota Camry had received multiple injuries from the crash.
“The driver of the vehicle, a 16-year-old female, had a possible broken shoulder and head injuries,” Cavender said.
A helicopter was dispatched to a landing zone set up at Grace Baptist Church to fly the unnamed girl to Grady Memorial Hospital, Cavender said.
Cavender said both lanes of Butterworth Road were blocked until the wreckage was cleared and the cause of the accident was being investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
