Mr. Ray C. Ellis, 76, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, June 05, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Floyd Tenney, Mayor Gene Hobgood and Ms. Dyanna Fincher officiating. Interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Ray formerly owned and operated Woodstock Medical Center. He was an avid gardener. Ray loved walking and reading and writing poetry. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Julia Ellis and cherished son, Grady Ellis. Survivors include his wife, Judy Ellis of Canton; goddaughters, Dyanna Fincher, Kristin Butler, Julia Butler and Jade Cash all of Canton; sister-in-law, Eloise Ellis of Moultrie; nieces and nephew, Karla Steinmetz, Karen Dell and Chuck Ellis; special friends, Deborah Fincher and Teri Bowen; and many other family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be, Drew Steinmetz, Brock Steinmetz, Rahul Gupta, Richard Smith, David O’Shea and Spencer Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be John Brandenburg, John Fincher, Ed McFather, Robert Moore, Danny Worley and Bordon Taylor. Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Ray C. Ellis.
