ACWORTH — A missing 76-year-old Acworth man has been found alive and well.

John Carson Bryant was found after changing his mind about driving to the West Coast, according to a spokesperson with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Jay Baker said sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Hardee’s restaurant on Highway 92 at Interstate 75 in Acworth around 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after Bryant’s son saw his missing father’s truck parked outside the restaurant.

“Bryant was inside eating lunch,” Baker said. “Bryant advised that after a family dispute on Thursday he decided he was going to drive to the West Coast.”

Baker said Bryant told investigators he made it to Louisiana and decided to drive back home.

Before going to his house, Bryant stopped at Hardee’s for lunch.

“After being checked by the medics from the Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services, Bryant was transported to Kennestone Hospital as a precaution,” Baker said.

Bryant’s family reported him missing last Friday and the Sheriff’s Office launched a search to find the man, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.

He had last been seen Thursday at the Acworth Regions Bank, where he withdrew a significant amount of cash.
