Voters continue to flock to the polls in Cherokee County this week as early voting continues in the final countdown to Election Day.

Cherokee County Elections Supervisor Janet Munda said the turnout has been strong in the south end of the county at the Rose Creek Public Library as polling locations across the county opened for business this week.

Through Friday voters can visit Ball Ground Public Library, Hickory Flat Public Library, Rose Creek Public Library and Woodstock Public Library as well as the Cherokee County Elections office to vote from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There will be no voting next Monday.

On Election Day next Tuesday, all county precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters must cast their ballots at their assigned precinct on Election Day.

When voting in person at any time, voters must bring a form of government-issued photo identification. Munda also said there’s steady interest in voting by mail.

About 2,000 ballots have been mailed out with more than half of those already returned ahead of next Tuesday’s count.

Munda noted the ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. July 31 to the Canton office.

Munda added the office has not experienced any problems or glitches in its system and noted she expects the stream of voters coming to vote early to remain steady.

“I think it will be a moderate flow (of people) and I expect that to be on Election Day as well,” she said.
