WINTERVILLE, Ga. (AP) _ Authorities say they’re treating the death of an Athens man whose body was found in a northeast Georgia field as a homicide.

Law officers say the body of Derrick Andrew Johnson was found Saturday morning in Oglethorpe County.

Jim Fullington, special agent in charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Athens field office, said Johnson was last seen alive on Friday night.

Fullington tells The Athens Banner-Herald that the body was found in a field off a dirt road just outside Winterville. He said evidence at the scene led investigators to suspect foul play.
