- President Obama cannot handle the job of President of the United States.
- Mitt Romney cannot handle the job, either.
- There's another election, soon.
Let me explain.
Over the years, the men who have occupied the White House, regardless of party affiliation, have expanded the power of the office to an extent never envisioned by the Founding Fathers, or, for that matter, any other rational person. Don’t take my word for it, invent a time machine, go back and mention the United States Departments of Education, Energy, or the EPA, to Madison, Jefferson or any of the originals. You will be treated to a 236-year-old blank stare.
The President is the only leader elected by all of the people, unless you include the women on “View.” In order to breathe that rarified air, promises are made during campaigns. This worked fine until one of the occupants—I believe it was FDR, but I could be wrong—decided to actually usurp the power necessary to actually to put a chicken in every pot.
The American people, in our infinite wisdom, said, if you like living in the big house, we want gravy and biscuits, too. The rest is, as they say, history.
The Roman, British, Ottoman, and Soviet Empires all fell, at least in part, because they got too big to manage. We are witnessing the fall of the Executive Empire…falling under the weight of its own power, and we are going down with it.
Enjoy the biscuits and gravy...and, don’t forget to vote!
