Fundraisers such as Mistletoe Market help JCLM achieve its mission.
“Our mission is to promote volunteerism, to impact our community and most importantly to develop the potential of women,” said Allison Carter, JLCM president.
The group celebrates its 80th anniversary as a driving force in the Cobb County-Marietta community this year. Whether through initiatives such as the Cobb Youth Museum or Open Gate, JLCM makes things happen.
“(JCLM) develops the potential of women so they can be strong community leaders. That is our heritage and a piece of our history,” Carter said. “Women can make a change and it can improve the community.”
Mistletoe Market is JCLM’s largest fundraiser.
“Mistletoe Market is one way we can raise money that ultimately we are able to give back to the community, to other non-profits that are improving our community,” she said.
JCLM gives more than 15,000 volunteer hours a year to the community. Its financial impact is more than $260,000 through annual grants along with volunteer hours given to community projects and agencies such as The Center for Children and Young Adults, The Center for Family Resources, Cobb County Safety Village, Communities In Schools of Marietta/Cobb County, Cobb County Youth Museum, Reconnecting Families, SafePath Children’s Advocacy Center, and YWCA of Northwest Georgia.
“We want to better our community,” Carter said.
Mistletoe Market is open to the public on Oct. 11 to 13 with new weekday shopping hours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Premier Night tickets are $20 and regular tickets are $4. To purchase tickets online and for more information, visit www.jlcm.org.
