Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad agents arrested Christina Weir of Woodstock about 1 p.m. and charged her with the sale of a Schedule 1 substance, agents said.
Schedule I drugs include heroin and Ecstasy, among other substances.
“They don’t get it that all they gotta do is quit selling this stuff and we’ll leave them alone,” said Phil Price, commander of the drug task force. “We’re trying to get the message across.”
Price said Weir was operating the shop on Friday at the time of her arrest.
“She sold to us back in September. She sort of went off the radar because she quit working for Smoke 911, and we didn’t have a current location on her,” Price said. “She came up in another drug investigation and we found out she was back working at Smoke 911. We just took the arrest warrant today.”
Price said the electricity was off at the store when narcotics agents arrived.
“The power company had cut it off because they had paid their bills,” Price said.
The task force wants to make sure illegal synthetic drugs are off the shelves in Cherokee County, price said.
“We will continue to follow up on the sale of synthetic marijuana and synthetic bath salts until we get it to where it’s not happening in Cherokee County,” Price said.
Price said he did not know of other shops in the community selling the synthetic substances.
“If there is anybody out there with info about other shops selling it we would love to know about it,” Price said.
“Our intent is that we will do what it takes to shut these businesses down or get them in compliance with the law. We’re just not going to have it here in the county as long as there’s anything we can do about it legally.”
Weir is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
The business is temporarily shut down, Price said.
The manager of four metro smoke shops was arrested in September for allegedly selling synthetic drugs banned under the new law which went into effect earlier this year.
The shop was also raided by federal agents in August.
