The event is at the gazebo in Cannon Park in downtown Canton across from the courthouse and is to remember the victims not only in Cherokee County but in all of Georgia, coordinators said.
“We have had three deaths in Cherokee County this year alone,” said Sheila Dogotch with the Violence Center.
Cherokee County Assistant District Attorney Shannon Wallace, who will take office as District Attorney in January, will be the keynote speaker.
“We will have entertainment and refreshments,” Dogotch said. “You will hear from victims and advocates. Of course the lighting of the candles and a moment of silence.”
The event is open to the public.
