Mr. Robert L. Bates, 68, of Powder Springs, formerly of Canton, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ken May officiating. Mr. Bates was a retired Civil Engineer and car salesman. Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Ray of Douglasville, Valarie Madden of Anderson, SC, Diane Ligon of Canton and Robyn Bates of Calhoun; siblings, Maye Zieger of Thompson, GA, Bill Bates of Canton, Bettye Graham of Canton, Lyndon Bates of Canton and Janet Woodworth of FL; 9 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and 3 grand-dogs. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a local humane society. Sosebee Funeral Home, Canton, GA, is honored to serve the family. 770-479-2131.
