CANTON — A mainstay of downtown Canton is under new ownership.

Nick Vecchio and Joseph Guynup, brothers-in-law from New York, have purchased Fork and Tavern, a bar and restaurant on East Main Street.

Both have experience in food and beverage management, and they are planning some menu tweaks for Fork and Tavern.

“We are going to maintain it as a tavern. It will still be pub food,” Vecchio said.

“It’s going to be pub food done right. We’re going to be culinary minded,” Guynup added. They also plan to introduce a whiskey menu and an expanded wine menu.

The new owners have hosted some live music since taking over the restaurant three weeks ago.

“That’s a big thing we’re going to do. We’re hoping to have some live music every weekend,” Guynup said.

Vecchio and Guynup also have some changes in store for the building. They have already changed the restaurant’s front windows, which can now be removed for an open-air feel.

The owners plan to install a bar downstairs to make the main level feel more like a tavern.

They will keep the upstairs bar as well. Fork and Tavern will close for a week for these renovations, though the exact schedule has not been pinned down yet.
