Lucy May Jackson, age 4, of Canton, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012. She was born to Henry E. Jackson, Jr. and Jill Kornburger Jackson on February 22, 2008. Lucy’s life was larger than her age suggests. She was born with mitochondrial disease, which robbed her body of the energy necessary for her to eat, walk or do many of the activities that normal children of her age would do. In spite of her disease, her love of life, family and friends was evident through her bright smiles, energetic kicks of love and happy shaking of all her beads. Her life has touched and changed the lives of so many people for the better. Her memory will continue to do the same. Lucy is survived by her parents, her brother Cooper E. Jackson, and her sister Josie K. Jackson. Her extended family includes grandparents, Denton and Susan Kornburger; grandmother, May Jackson; Uncle Jeff and Auntie Jodi Hall, Aunt Jane Kornburger, as well as Uncle Dave and Aunt Alice Hoffman. The funeral service for Lucy will be Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from the 1st United Methodist Church of Canton with Pastor Gavin Adams officiating. The family will be receiving friends Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Darby Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at darbyfuneralhome.com. The caring staff of Darby Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made toward benches and trees for Liberty Elementary. Donations can be made to the Sun Trust branch at Publix located in the Market of Bridgemill on Sixes Road, Canton, GA. The phone number for the branch is 770-479-4452, Sun Trust Bank, Mail Code GA-ATL-0292, 3760 Sixes Road, Suite 110, Canton, GA.
