Mrs. Bessie Dodd, 92, of Ball Ground, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 pm Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Donnie Summey officiating. Interment will follow in New Hightower Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 pm until 10 pm and Sunday from 9 am until the funeral hour. Mrs. Dodd was Baptist. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and being a mother. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Dodd; parents, Jesse James Strayhorn and Cliffie Mitchell Strayhorn; brother, Edward Strayhorn; sister, Minnie Noland; children, Alene Casey, Barbara Bruce, Joshalene Pendley, Judy Donogan and stepchildren, Edgar Dodd, Maggie Pierce and Sandra Dodd; survivors include her children, Harold Higdon, Edward (Pat) Higdon, Myrtle “Pat” (Donnie) Summey, Johnny (Debbie) Dodd, Tony (Brenda) Dodd, Ruth (Coy) Pendley, Vallery (Bennie) McDowell, Leon Dodd, Sue Dodd and Julious Button Dodd; 36 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
