Kennesaw State University has named a Creekview High School senior as its outstanding dual enrollment honors student for 2012-13.

Emily Solon, who is on track to earn 52 college credit hours by the time she graduates in May, will be presented the award during a ceremony in April.

Solon will be honored tonight at the Cherokee County School Board meeting for her achievement.

Solon began taking classes at KSU during her junior year and maintains a 3.9 GPA. She has been accepted to Georgia Institute of Technology where she plans to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering.

Solon is an environmental science and pre-calculus supplemental instruction leader at KSU and also has been a tutor in the school’s math lab.

Outside of school, Solon works part time at Walgreens. Solon also enjoys competitive martial arts, including K-1, muay thai and international rules kickboxing. She holds a blue belt in Brazilian ju-jitsu.

The university’s dual enrollment honors program enables high school juniors and seniors to take college coursework.

The outstanding dual enrollment honors award is presented annually to the dual enrollment student with the highest GPA and the greatest number of KSU credits and honors courses.
