The Woodstock Downtown Development Authority unanimously voted to approve incorporating 500 Arnold Mill Way into the DDA boundaries at its Thursday meeting.
Brad Nix, a representative for the brewery, made a presentation to the board focusing on the concept of the brewery, adding it could initially bring five to eight new jobs to the area and potentially 40 new jobs in the long-term.
Nix said he planned to fund a portion of the business through a state-endorsed loan fund, which requires the property to be located within the DDA’s boundaries.
Also, City Manager Jeff Moon informed the board that the position of Director of Economic Development, recently vacated by Billy Peppers, has been posted and he plans to begin interviews the last week in January.
He added the position of Community Development Director, previously held by Richard McLeod, has been filled and a formal announcement of the new director will be made Tuesday.
In other business, the board voted for its 2013 officers. All unanimously approved, Jimmy Long was voted chairman, Perry Tanner was voted vice chairman and Bill Raike was voted treasurer.
Hot Dog Heaven was also unanimously approved for a façade grant for a total of $3,297.82 and a presentation by Neel Sengupta, manager of Freight Kitchen & Tap, was heard by the board.
Sengupta said he is in the process of updating his original application after an initial proposal was not agreed upon by the building’s owners.
Additonally, the board unanimously voted to allocated more funds to repair the entire kitchen floor of the Magnolia Thomas House for $9,480.
The board voted to go into executive session to discuss real estate but no action was taken upon their return.
Due to inclement weather, the board agreed to move staff reports to the February meeting.
