The Ball Ground Historical Society presented local business owners with certificates of appreciation at its monthly meeting on Tuesday night at Ball Ground City Hall.
Local businesses and individuals were recognized for their support of the society’s first vintage display and membership drive that was held in October at the Ball Ground Community Center. The vintage display featured historic photographs of past businesses, churches and families.
Former businesses recognized during the vintage display were: Citizens Bank, The Frosty Bar, The Rock Shops, Robertson’s Auto Parts and Felix Young’s Peanut Corner.
Businesses featured that are still in operation included Dot’s Restaurant, Cheshire Heating and Air Conditioning, Harris Lumber Co., Densmore Furniture Co., Haithcock Supply/Well Drilling, Nix Tire, Two Brothers Barbeque and Ingram Truck Body and Trucking Co.
Two area churches, Ball Ground First Baptist and Sharp Mountain Baptist, were also featured.
The Ball Ground Historical Society has 48 active members and meets at the Ball Ground City Hall on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
