Prep Roundup: Woodstock boys win with singles sweep

Woodstock swept the singles points, on its way to beating Harrison 4-1 on Thursday.

Ivan Vizcaya and Evan Zaner won handily at No. 1 and 3 singles, respectively. Eric Hollar rallied from a 6-4 first-set loss to win the next set 6-4 and the super tiebreaker 10-6.

Spencer Hren and Luke Mixon were in the same position at No. 1 doubles, losing the first set 6-3 before rallying for 6-1 and 10-4 margins.

Woodstock (1-1) will travel to North Cobb next Thursday.

Creekview 5, Osborne 0: The Grizzlies won a hard-fought Region 7AAAAA match against the Cardinals.

Tommy Aiken won 6-2, 4-6, 13-11 at No. 1 singles, while Eric Daniel won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2. At No. 3, Josh Torralba won 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles action, Lawson Stansell and Alex Urffer won

6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 1, while Daniel Dupoux and Charlie Klaesius 6-1, 6-2 won at No. 2.


Sequoyah 4, Pope 1:
The Lady Chiefs were taken to a third set twice, but they still emerged with the Region 7AAAAA win.

Taylor Dodd won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, with Ariel Schneider winning 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 2.

Morgan Dodd and Victoria won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, followed by Sydney Webb and Sophia Levantis winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2.

Sequoyah (1-0, 1-0) will be off until traveling to Forsyth Central on Feb. 26.

Creekview 5, Osborne 0: The Lady Grizzlies easily swept the Lady Cardinals at home.

Creekview (2-1) was led by No. 1 singles Emily Fraysier, who won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 singles, Lauren Tero won 6-0, 6-0, and Olivia Rowland won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 single.

In doubles, the team of Hannah Rowland and Sloan Anderson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1. The team of Kori Fowler and Caroline Cogswell completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Sequoyah 9, Westlake 0:
Jorden Kirkland’s hat trick led the Chiefs to a season-opening rout in Atlanta.

Victor Rivera added two goals, while Diego Ruiz, Dylan Calder, Kostya Benton and Jonathan Guy each had one.

Maxx Hollingsworth had two assists, with Ruiz, Guy, Rivera and Kirkland contributing one apiece.

Ethan Riggle had two saves for Sequoyah (1-0), which will host River Ridge today.
