Goshen Valley Boys Ranch recently received 22 used Dell computers from Cobb Electric Membership Corp., which represents more than 175,000 members in metro Atlanta and southwest Georgia.
For the last 10 years, the faith-based Waleska ranch has provided a home for boys in foster care. Since opening its doors, the nonprofit has grown to house about 34 boys, but the technology has remained the same.
Recognizing Goshen Valley’s need for updated computers, Cobb EMC Senior Vice President Technology Systems Robert Arnett contacted co-founders Zach and John Blend.
“After understanding the objectives of Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, I can’t express how good it feels to be involved and make these kinds of contributions to the program,” Arnett said. “These PCs were getting ready to be retired, but I knew they still had some life in them given the right environment.”
The donated computers were installed to replace older equipment in various homework labs and to provide staff members with functioning computers at the office.
“Goshen Valley is so grateful for these computers,” Zach Blend said. “They have been used in our offices, homes and computer labs throughout the ranch. The computers meet our needs perfectly and we are so thankful for them.”
