After shooting 45.5 percent (10-of-22) in the first half, Reinhardt (19-15) shot 23.3 percent (7-of-30) from the floor in the second.
Saint Francis (31-3) was lead by Kayla Drake, who scored a game-high 21 points. The Cougars forced the Lady Eagles into 21 turnovers, leading to 15 points.
Reinhardt rallied for a 10-all tie early in the game, but Saint Francis scored nine unanswered points to take the lead back. The Lady Cougars continued to pull away and led by as many as 22 late in the second half.
Reinhardt was making its first appearance in the national tournament after winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship. Saint Francis won the Crossroads League, beating national No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan in the title game.
Reinhardt’s leading scorer, Tara Hay, was held to nine points on 3-for-18 shooting from the floor. The senior entered the tournament averaging 15.1 points per game.
Taylor Johnson led Reinhardt with 12 points, with Hannah Mayo adding 10. Former Woodstock High School standout Kayla Aiken had a team-high nine rebounds, with April Besley contributing eight and four steals.
Saint Francis advanced to the second round, where it will face No. 5 seed Saint Xavier (Ill.) on Friday.
