City Manager Jeff Moon announced during Woodstock’s Downtown Development Authority meeting Thursday the brewery has signed a lease with the property owners for the new facility to be located at 3905 Arnold Mill Road.
DDA Chairman Jimmy Long said he went to the brewery’s “Remember This Night” event at Magnolia Hall on Feb. 22.
“I did sample a couple of the beers, and it was very good,” Long said.
Moon told the DDA the City Council has already approved both readings of the DDA boundary expansion to include the brewery, which enables the company to receive a state-endorsed loan fund.
Spencer Nix, CEO of Reformation Brewery, confirmed Friday the deal was inked earlier this week, but added the contract has a provision for a 60-day due diligence period.
The board also approved two facade grant applications.
A $5,000 matching grant was approved unanimously for Woodstock Art & Glass, which includes a new entrance and repairs to existing entryways that have already completed.
Freight Kitchen & Tap was also approved unanimously for a matching grant of $3,480 to pay for lighting additions and a grease lock system.
The council also approved transferring $615.27 from the contingency fund in order to grant both façade grants.
Long also updated the council regarding needed repairs to Magnolia Thomas restaurant including upgraded steps and replacement of the restaurant’s woodframe doors, which will keep the restaurant closed likely until next weekend.
Kyle Bennett, assistant director of tourism and visitors center operations, updated the board about the downtown Woodstock mobile phone application and said it should be completed within the next month.
The app is different from the city’s recently-launched Connect Woodstock app, which allows residents to report issues to the city, in that it will list upcoming events and happenings in the downtown area.
Bennett said the city of Marietta purchased a similar app from the same company and has already had 1,200 downloads.
“Hopefully, by the next board meeting, we’ll have the (cost) amount and the (launch) date for it,” Bennett said.
Bennett said 603 people visited the city’s visitors center at Dean’s Store in February, which was boosted by the Arbor Day tree seedling giveaway.
