County spokeswoman Tonya Parker Monday said Rockdale Water Resources customers in the county’s northern region were ordered to continue boiling water following a leak that was reported Friday.
Parker says the water company is awaiting bacterial testing results and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division must give the utility permission to rescind the boil water notice. Officials say water main leaks can cause low water pressure — which can lead to backflows or water that is unsuitable for consumption being mixed in with drinking water. Customers are asked to boil water for at least one minute.
Parker says the water main was apparently struck during construction-related underground drilling.
