A Cherokee County woman who, along with five men, allegedly assaulted her ex-boyfriend in March 2012, was arrested Saturday in Florida, according to a spokesperson for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Karen Lynn King, 52, was featured on the America’s Most Wanted television show in October and was arrested in Indian River County, Fla., Lt. Jamie Gianfala of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said Monday

Gianfala said King was wanted on charges of aggravated assault with intent to murder, aggravated battery with disfigurement and kidnapping with bodily injury in the assault and kidnapping of Lyndon Baines Smith, 65, her ex-boyfriend and the father of one of her sons.

That son, Lyndon Ahlik Smith, 21, was one of the other five who were charged with being involved in the beating, along with another of King’s sons, Alonte Smith, 18, according to investigators and police reports.

Both have been arrested, as have the other three suspects, Will Robinson, 25, Robert Silva Jr, 23, Melvin Floyd, 23, Gianfala said.

The incident took place on March 3, 2012, at King’s home in the Bridgemill community in Cherokee County, when King and the other five others allegedly assaulted Smith, causing injuries to his face, ribs and brain and cost him his vision in one of his eyes, Gianfala said.

Gianfala said it is believed that money was among the reasons behind the beating.

Smith was later found unconscious in the trunk of his 2004 Mercury Sable in Alabama, when Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled the car over on Interstate 20 during a routine traffic stop.

Smith, a resident of Alabama, was transported to University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital in Birmingham, where he was treated for his injuries. Gianfala said he was in a coma for a time following the assault.

Floyd, who was driving the car, was arrested on the scene.

The others have been arrested in other jurisdictions.

King is in the Indian River County Jail where she is awaiting extradition, Gianfala said.
